Take the Test

There are 7 labs on this site, which take about 20 minutes in total to complete. Please use headphones or good quality speakers to listen to the music - some of the pitches are quite low and will not reproduce well on some computer speakers.

Make sure that you have some dedicated quiet time to complete the tests and please don't carry out other tasks while participating in the experiments or the results may be affected.

To play the sounds in the Labs you need to have Flash installed and Javascript enabled. Most browers do have Flash installed and Javascript enabled but to check your own computer turn the volume up and click on the Play button.

If the test button changes colour, and the text changes to Played, Javascript is enabled. If this happens but there is no sound, you may need to install Flash, freely available, from the downloads section of the Adobe web site. The tests will take 2 to 3 times as long to complete if you are using dial up, which is not recommended in conjunction with this site.
